One Man's Quest for the Hottest Wings in the World

I have always been a connoisseur of hot and spicy foods. I hadn't done any food challenges until a week ago. I'm not a professional or competitive eater of any kind. I'm just a guy that loves food, and keeps a special little place in his heart for those foods that aren't afraid to hide their flavors.

Below are the wings I've ventured to consume in my personal quest to find the hottest wings in the world, along with my critiques of each of them. Some are part of food challenges, others are not. This is kind of a living article per say. As time goes on and I find new hot wings that peak above the rest, I will add them to this post. So bookmark this page and stop back often.

Restaurant: Quaker Steak and Lube
Location: Fargo, ND
Wing Name: Triple Atomic Wings
Challenge: Eat 5 wings in 5 minutes
SHU: 500,000

I did the Triple Atomic Wing Challenge at the Quaker Steak and Lube in Fargo, ND. Most wings that are focused on heat seem to do so at the expense of flavor. The sauce that QSL offers is good and hot, but still tastes really good too. Their wings are tangy, a little sweet, and offer lots of heat. It's made with the notorious ghost pepper, which helps it achieve the 500,000 SHU rating. I ate six of these wings in 3 minutes and 54 seconds. However, I was eating them at a rather leisurely pace, and not really going for speed. A video of this wing challenge is below.

Restaurant: Buffalo Wild Wings
Location: Everywhere
Wing Name: Blazin' Wings
Challenge: 12 wings in 6 minutes with no water and no napkins
SHU: 200,000 - 350,000

Yeah... I've had the wings before and wasn't real impressed with the flavor or the heat. I plan to do the challenge at some point when I get around to it... just to say I've done it. But, I won't be going out of my way to do it.

Restaurant: Bayou Hot Wings
Location: New Orleans, LA
Wing Name: Beast Wings
Challenge: 10 wings in 5 minutes
SHU: Unknown

This is my next endevour. I will be doing the Bayou Beast Challenge in June of 2013!
